This paper continues where the first part of Ukuthwala left off. As argued earlier, ukuthwala is perceived by some as merely abduction, but this article clearly gives a different view to that. This article clarifies that after this women “ethwelwe”, thorough negotiations are conducted between the two families as a part of ukulobola negotiations. Part of this includes an agreement that the bridge will be brought back to her family as per the tradition, until the wedding day. Moreover, this article maintains that it is not young girls who go through this process as per popular belief but it is mostly young women.
