Ibovu ‘red soil’ is the kind of soil that you can get from the rural areas near the river or in the valley. Ibovu does a lot of work even though some people think that it is just a soil. It can be used to make muthi which is helpful and that heals children, the name of that muthi is umphumputho.
This muthi is made out of four things which is a Colgate, ‘alarm’, umule and ibovu. That mixture will be used to administer an enema. A person who has a rash over his body can also use ibovu by smearing it on the rash and it will heal. Ibovu also prevents the sunburn from damaging your face, you also have to smear it on your face. It can also be used in a wound that does not heal it can help to heal the wound.
Ibovu is mostly used by traditional apprentices when they are training to be traditional healers; they smear ibovu everyday all over their bodies during their training.
Ibovu is a useful soil, it can help everybody.
