Abantu bakwaNtuli baziwa njengaMabhele. Batholakala endaweni engaphansi kwentaba iLenge ngaseMhlumayo, eMnambithi. Baziwa kakhulu ngokuthi uma befunga bathi, “Ngiwafunge aMabhele eseLenge!” Amanye aMabhele atholakala ngaseNtabeni yaseNkuzi ngenhla nomfula iNdaka ngaseWashibhange.
Kuthiwa langa limbe iNkosi uShaka izipholele ngaphansi komthunzi nenduna yayo kwabonakala ngefu lothuli liza ngakubona. Kuthiwa kwakukhona amadoda, abantu besifazane nezingane. Kuthiwa bathi uma befika ngasemfuleni uThukela iNkosi uShaka yababuza ukuthi babalekani bathi babaleka amazimuzimu. Kuthiwa iNkosi yayalela induna yayo eyayihleli nayo uMaphitha kaSithole ukuthi akahambe ayohlala nalabobantu ngaphansi kwentaba iLenge abagade bangadliwa amazimuzimu.
Kuthiwa iNkosi uShaka yabahlalisa ngaphansi kukaZihlandlo kaGcwabe Mkhize, endaweni yaseNkandla. Bafika eNkandla babizwa ngokuthi ngabakwaNtuli ngoba kwabonakala izintuli zishunqa bebalekela amazimuzimu. Bahlalisana kahle nabantu baseMbo kwaze kwavela uNdlela indodana kaSompisi Ntuli.
UNdlela wayehlakaniphe kakhulu waze wenziwa uNdunankulu kaZulu ngesikhathi kubusa uDingane kaSenzangakhona. UNdlela kaSompisi wasindisa uMpande ngesikhathi uDingane efuna ukumbulala ukuze athathe ubukhosi, kuthiwa uDingane wapha uMpande izinkomo eziyi 100 ngoba wayazi ukuthi uzohamba ayombonga. USompisi waxwayisa uMpande ukuthi angayi kuDingane ngoba uzombulala. UNdlela wagcina ebulewe uDingane ngoba eseka uMpande. Ngemuva kokubulawa kukaNdlela aMabhele eNkandla abuswa uGodide inkosana yakhe. UGodide wazala uMangati kwathi enye indodana kaNdlela uMavumengwana yena wazakhela ugazi ezikhulwini zezwe ngoba wayekhuthele kakhulu.
UMavumengwana wayeyibutho futhi engumngani omkhulu weSilo uCetshwayo. Ngenxa yobuqotho bakhe izikhulu zamsikele izwe ukusuka eNtumeni, eShowe kwaze kwagcina oThukela. Ufike khona wakha umuzi wawubiza ngokuthi kukwaNhliziyonde. UGodide, uMavumengwana kanye noZinti bakaNdlela Ntuli balwe izimpi zikaCetshwayo. UMavumengwana uzale uMfungelwa ozale uGqokinsimbi ozale uMzungezi ozale uS’thembiso obusayo njengamanje oYaya naseMbongolwane, eShowe. Obunye ubukhosi bakwaNtuli bukwaMkhonto, KwaNgoni endaweni yaKwaMaphumulo.
Amanye aMabhele atholakala ogwini oluseNingizimu neKwaZulu Natal. Abantu bakwaKhuboni bayingxenye yaMabhele. Bakhona nabanye abasesifundazweni saseMpumalanga KwaGuqa eWitbank ngoba uGuqa kwakungesinye sezibonda zakwaNtuli. Abantu bawela umfula uMzimvubu bakhelene nezizwe zamaXesibe eMpumalanga Kapa.

English Summary: History of Ntuli Surname
Ntuli people are also known as aMabhele hence the Mbhele surname. Ntuli means ‘dust’. It is said that one day King Shaka was chatting with one of his izinduna near uThukela when they saw a cloud of dust coming towards them. They were surprised to see men, women and children running for their lives and when they asked them what was happening they said they were running away from the cannibals. Then King Shaka told his induna Maphitha Sithole to move to a place under the Lenge Mountain to look after these people. They were under Chief Zihlandlo kaGcwabe Mkhize leadership in Nkandla. They were called Ntuli because of the dust they made when they were running for their lives. They lived in peace with Mkhize people until the birth of Ndlela, son of Sompisi Ntuli. Ndlela was a very clever man and was one of prominent leaders during the regime of Dingane of Senzangakhona. Ndlela helped Mpande from a plot of killing him and he was killed because of his support for Mpande. After Ndlela’s death the Bhele clan of Nkandla were led by Godide, Ndlela’s son. Godide’s son was Mangati and another son of Ndlela Mavumengwana was also popular because of his being a hard worker. They also gave him land at Ntumeni in Eshowe to the Thukela river. Mavumengwana’s son was Mfungelwa whose son was Gqokinsimbi whose son was Mzungezi whose sone is the current chief S’thembiso in Oyaya and Mbongolwane in Eshowe. Another Ntuli chieftancy is at Mkhonto in KwaNgoni, KwaMaphumulo. Others are found in the Lower South Coast of KwaZulu Natal. The Khuboni people are part of the Mbhele clan. Others are found in the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga provinces.
