Ulwazi Fieldworkers: February

The wail of an owl is seen as a sign of witchcraft

Often our Ulwazi fieldworkers choose a theme for the month, with their stories focusing on one particular subject matter. This month Siboniso Langa chose to look at animals, and the different ways in which their skins are used in Zulu culture. He also discussed which animals are considered dangerous, and talked about animals that have superstitious beliefs tied to them. Nkosikhona Duma focused more on language. His stories included Zulu lullabies, iziqubulo (slogans) and poetry.
