Article Overview

This article seeks to expose some of the benefits of migration i.e. cultural education. It seeks to achieve this through a demonstration of a video of a band of immigrants from Burundi who now reside in Durban where they show how births and coronations are celebrated in their home country. The band use drums called ‘karyenda’ which are said to be very sacred in Burundi as they represent the fertility of Mwami (they Royal Family), who are also said to be the champions of regeneration in the country.
