The 20th Time of the Writer festival opened this past Monday at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and closes this Saturday the 18th March with the launch of the much revered UNodomehlezi KaMenzi by the late Professor Mazisi Kunene. The festival is a wonderful opportunity to meet with some serious names in African literature, as well as learn about new up-and-coming authors.
Included in the lineup this year are a number of Zulu-language writers, such as the children’s author, Nomsa Mdlalose, and Nakanjani G. Sibiya, whose debut novel, Kuxolelwa abanjani?, was recognised as the as the best isiZulu novel (1994-2004) by the Department of Arts and Culture.
