The Centre for Creative Arts (CCA), based at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, hosts their annual Time of the Writer festival between the 18th and 23rd of March this year. As part of the festival’s programme, the CCA invites high school learners to submit stories to the Schools Short Story Competition. Stories can be written in English, Afrikaans or isiZulu, and must be no longer than five typed pages long. The deadline for submissions is the 28th February 2014, and winners will receive cash prizes, book vouchers and complimentary tickets to the festival.
So get your thinking caps on kids! Who knows, you might be the next Alan Paton or Zakes Mda, and you might not even know it!
