Teddyboy Welcome Buthelezi

Durban Living Legend – Teddyboy Welcome Buthelezi

Teddyboy Buthelezi was born in November 23 1953, in Glebelands, South of Durban. Buthelezi started his career in tennis coaching in early 1980s. Due to apartheid laws he could not be admitted to any Tennis Academy because of his colour. His passion for the game, inspired him to study abroad through correspondence. In 1988, he qualified as professional tennis instructor under United State National Tennis Academy (Texas). He was only recognized as qualified professional coach here in South Africa in 2003.

Currently, Buthelezi is promoting tennis in African townships for young, underprivileged children.
