Every country has things that it is proud of, things that make their citizens beam with pride, and the a cappella group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo (LBM), are definitely on the list of things that South Africans can celebrate! At the 60th Grammy Awards held last Sunday, Ladysmith Black Mambazo walked away with the Best World Music Grammy award for the album Shaka Zulu Revisited! Impressive as that is, more impressive is the fact that this is the group’s seventeenth Grammy nomination and their fifth win! Interestingly the first time LBM won a Grammy was in 1987, for the original Shaka Zulu album.
A massive congratulations to all of the Ladysmith Black Mambazo members, and to their founder, Dr Joseph Shabalala!
