Brief overview
On the 28th of September 2021 there was a march by the Nazareth Baptist Church from the side of uNyazi Lwezulu. The march was against court’s ruling against uNyazi Lwezulu being the sole leader of this institution. The church has been at loggerheads for over sometime now fighting over who should be the leader of the church, even with the courts intervention there has not been any resolution accepted by both parties. This articles deliberates on the march and how it proceeded.
Durban City Centre come into a stand still on Monday, 28th of September 2021 as thousands of Nazareth Baptist Church members from eBuhleni faction marched. The members who come in their numbers were there to show support for Mduduzi Shembe as their leader. Mduduzi is the son of the late Vimbeni Shembe who has been protesting the Durban High Court’s ruling and granting Vela Shembe (his now late uncle) as the leader. This march led to one member being arrested for breaching Covid 19 regulations. According to police, permission for the march was granted with the expectation of 500 people only.
