Being a Christian holiday, Easter, which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion at Calvary, isn’t recognised by a lot of South Africans, but it is a time of the year when people get to take a few well deserved days off from work, with many people driving to see family and friends for the long weekend. The Shembes, who despite being a Christian organisation don’t celebrate the holiday, hold an annual ‘arrive alive’ walk culminating in a prayer for those people traveling over the Easter weekend. Ulwazi joins the Shembe church in wishing everyone safe travels these holidays – may all South African’s have a peaceful and safe Easter weekend!
