Opening next month, Rise and Fall of Apartheid: Photography and the Bureaucracy of Everyday Life is a photographic exhibition ten years in the making. The traveling exhibition, which has been shown in New York, Milan and Munich will finish its tour at Johannesburg’s Museum Africa, in celebration of 20 years of democracy in South Africa. The exhibition represents the culmination of more than a decade’s worth of research supported by the International Center of Photography in New York, who organised the exhibition. With over 800 photographs from more than 70 South African photographers, and 27 films, this is a seriously impressive chronicle of the rise and fall of Apartheid.

The exhibition opens on Wednesday 12th February and runs until the 29th June 2014. There are rumours that the exhibition might be shown in Durban at some point – let’s hope the rumours are right!
