We didn’t manage to squeeze it in at the time, but it would be remiss of us if we failed to bring you the highlights of this year’s Poetry Africa which took place earlier this month!
For the first time the festival included isiZulu praise poetry as one of its categories, with the 22nd edition of the festival focusing on women’s voices and the gender debate. Slam poetry, which has a rapidly growing audience, also featured heavily in the line-up, which included poets from South Africa and the African continent, as well as acclaimed authors from abroad.
