As the Municipality prepares to host its third annual Living Legends Award ceremony, members of the public are urged to nominate people whom they feel are worthy to receive this prestigious award.
The Living Legends can be nominated by filling in a form, which can be obtained inside the Municipal publication, eZasegagasini Metro,nearest library, museums and the Durban Art Gallery. The closing date for nominations is Friday, 18/03/11 and no late submissions will be accepted.
Living Legends has become an integral part of the Municipal calendar over the years, as it celebrates and acknowledges the positive contributions made by current and past eThekwini citizens who are involved in different sectors of society. Past awardees include; Vusi Ximba, Leleti Khumalo, Clive Barker, Ela Gandhi, Gcina Mhlophe, Judge Vuka Tshabalala, Prof Phillip Tobias, Prof Jerry Coovadia, Dr Fred Robert, Rev BK Dludla, Mandla Langa and many others.
This year there will be 15 awardees in the categories of; Arts and Culture, Human Rights, Academics, Business, Sports, Music and Entertainment, Environment, Science and Technology, Hospitality and Tourism, Media and Religion.
