Miriam Cele has dedicated her life to community building. Since 1997 Miriam has been providing for orphans through the Gozololo Centre for Needy Children. The centers currently feed and educate 300 children every day in KwaMashu, Bhambayi and Umgababa. Miriam has 17 years’ experience as a community and development worker and in 2004 was awarded the Order of the Baobab by former President Thabo Mbeki.
Today, with the help of other “foster grannies”, Gozololo Day Care Centre has numerous satellite centres that now provide care to over 1200 children in five different communities.
