The 35th Durban International Film Festival, the continent’s largest and longest running film festival, is in full swing with dozens of screenings of local and international features and documentaries still to come over the next few days. The festival, which has a strong South African focus this year, opened with ‘Hard to Get‘, a feature film from local KZN director, Zee Ntuli. There are also a number of must-see SA documentaries, including the controversial ‘Miners Shot Down‘ that looks at the devastating Marikana strike that ended with the deaths of 34 miners in August 2012.
If you haven’t done so already, head on down to your local movie house* to make sure you get the most out of this fantastic event. DIFF 2014 really is something that KZN can be proud of!
* Screenings take place at nine venues in and around Durban. Have a look at the DIFF website (www.durbanfilmfest.co.za) to see a full list of venues.
