Ngokuchaza kukasolwazi uNobuhle Ndimande, amaZulu akholelwa ekutheni umntwana uyisipho esivela kuMvelingqangi. Umntwana uyaye ethiwe igama njengendlela yokubonga ubukhulu namandla kaMvelingqangi ekuphumeleliseni ukuzalwa komntwana.

Njengasemazweni amaningi ezwenikazi i-Afrika, inkolo yobuKrestu ilandelwa izinkumbi zabantu eNingizimu Afrika. UbuKrestu bunomthelela omkhulu kusikompilo lakuleli kanye nakwezepolitiki. Impande yalomthelela wukufika kwemikhumbi yongxiwankulu kuleli ngeminyaka yo-1600.

Christianity is widely entrenched in most parts of Africa. Arguably, Christianity influences the cultural, social and political  lifestyle practices of African peoples all over the continent. History demonstrates that the saturation of Christianity in many African states corresponded with the colonial settlement. While colonialism is now recorded as having passed in many African countries, the social, political and cultural remnants are very much alive and present in many spheres of African societies. An example of this is how many Africans are named after Christian figures or within the constructs of the Christian faith. This article discusses this issue, taking guidance from the literature of Ndimande (2001).
