Durban Living Legend – Abednigo Shaka Ngcobo
Born in Cato Manor, Durban in 1950, Abednigo Shaka Ngcobo started playing soccer at a very young age. As a young boy he played for African Bush Rangers, and in 1968 he started playing for Rand Koreans, where he was soon promoted to play in the First Division. He played First Division for several teams, such as Union Jacks, Zulu Royals, and African Wanderers. In 1972, Ngcobo played for Kaizer Chiefs and in 1975, he moved on to play for the Denver Dynamos in USA. Also played for Minnesota Kicks in 1976 while in the USA.
In 1980, he moved to South America where he played for Penarol. In 1981, he returned to South Africa and played for Kaizer Chiefs until he retired in 1985.
