The 2016 Indigenous Games Festival kicks off this Saturday in Polokwane. It’s the 11th year that the games will be held, with all nine provinces competing in a variety of games, including rope jumping games (ugqaphu/kgati/ntimo), board games (ncuva/ntijwa/tsoro/tshimaya/moruba) and stick fighting (iintonga / melamu / izinkuku / umgangela). The festival opens with a street carnival where participants will be adorned in their cultural attire. The carnival starts at the Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex and will end off at Seshego Stadium.
Wish, the defending champions, the KwaZulu-Natal team, good luck for the games!
