Durban Living Legend – Thembi Mtshali-Jones

Thembi Mtshali-Jones is one of the most celebrated South African artists. Her theatre credits include Marabi and Umabatha which toured South Africa, the UK and the USA. She co-wrote and starred in Eden and Other Places; Woman of Africa and Have You Seen Zandile. She also appeared in a host of TV series, most notably Divers Down, Generations, Interrogation Room, Madam & Eve, Scoop Scoombie, Takalani Sesame, S.O.S., Stokie, Fishy Feshuns, Backstage, Silent Witness and the well known S’gudi Snaysi.

She recorded three albums in her own name, and recorded as lead vocalist with the Sipho Gumede’s band and the African Jazz Pioneers. Thembi’s most recent film roles were in Themba shot in 2009; Country of my Skull; Cape of Good Hope and The Wooden Camera (2003).
