A giant pass-book replica at the KwaMuhle Museum

A giant pass-book replica at the KwaMuhle Museum

The Ulwazi Programme falls under the eThekwini Municipality’s Libraries & Heritage Department, receiving both administrative as well as financial support from the department. We are obviously very proud of Ulwazi – it has been a forerunner in the digital knowledge arena in Africa, and the recipient of numerous awards, but is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the wonderful work that this municipal department does! Umlando is a publication produced by the Durban Local History Museums that highlights the work performed by the various museums within the eThekwini Municipality. Their first issue was published in 2011, and provides a brief synopses of each of their museums. The magazine may be a few years old now, but the information it contains is still relevant – and fascinating to read! I’m certain that there are many of us out there who had no idea about these wonderful educational institutions that lie right on our doorstep!
