Some of these human beings we never get to meet or even know in our lifetime. The eThekwini Living Legends Awards initiative reflects both the hard work of those who conceived and have sustained it for half a decade and those who are honoured and celebrated through it. We are therefore fortunate as a City that this initiative affords us a rare opportunity to meet and salute these giants on whose shoulders we stand. There is no gainsaying that the people we celebrate this year as eThekwini Living Legends epitomise the dignity and honour concomitant with hard work, dedication and selflessness. We are proud as a City to be associated with such talent, skill, brilliance and commitment. The past four years have seen people who represent diverse areas of human endeavour being nominated as eThekwini Living Legends and this year is no exception. The achievements of the 2012 eThekwini Living Legends in their respective fields are not only a marvel to be proud of but also an example to emulate and a gauntlet to future generations. On behalf of eThekwini staff, we take our hats off to these giants of our City.
